The cost from 1st January 2024 for a standard commercial CD recording, editing, and mastering package is £4,200 + VAT
This includes:
Pre-recording planning and liaison
3 consecutive days on location (including all equipment costs) – see here
3 days editing (first & second edits) and mastering to produce the final CD Master in the following forms:
1) PQ Encoded DDP Red Book Master (which is what the pressing plant will need). If the necessary codes to fully encode the disc are not available then the DDP will be finished as far as possible.
2) High Resolution version (96 kHz, 24 Bits) – suitable for archiving and possible future high-resolution release
3) MP3 version of individual tracks (suitable for web use etc)
Notes:
The above assumes that Patrick Allen – see here – will be working alone as engineer and producer. This is normally the case for soloist, chamber and choral recordings. Symphonic recordings will usually require additional crew.
Photography services during the sessions are also available for promotional purposes – see here – the photography is carried out without charge although £50 is charged for equipment, and any post-production requested by the artist after the sessions (eg photo editing and mastering) is carried out at £50/hour
Filming services during the sessions are also available for promotional purposes – see here – the filming is carried out without charge although £100 is charged for equipment, and any post-production requested by the artist after the sessions (eg video editing and mastering) is carried out at £50/hour
Additional consecutive recording days are charged at £500 each. Non-consecutive recording days may be subject to extra set-up and travel costs – these will be assessed for each project.
Additional post-production time requested by the artist (beyond the second edit stage) may be subject to additional fees (charged at £50/hour) depending upon the extent of additional work required and the reason for the extra work.
Payment is due 50% after the initial recording session and 50% prior to the release of the final master.
Travel and accommodation expenses are charged at cost. Car mileage charged at 40p per mile – Car journeys greater than around 2 hours may be subject to an additional cost to cover travel time. No travel or accommodation expenses are charged for locations within 40 miles of Bedford or Snape Maltings.
The copyright in all recordings is retained by Opera Omnia Productions Ltd until full payment of all related invoices is received. At this point, the copyright reverts to the invoice-payer.
NB All of the above costs are subject to VAT at the rate applicable at the time of invoice (currently 20%).
